Settings - Acquisition

Mr Kick Home

Mr. Kick acquire data in sweeps, i.e. fixed length sequences. The sweeps are specified here:

  1. Sweep Length, Pre-Trig and Number of Sweeps
  2. Sample Rate and Downsampling Factor

Sweep Length, Pre-Trig and Number of Sweeps

The Sweep Length - or sequence length - specifies the amount of data that will be sampled per sweep. It is measured in seconds and represents the full length of the sweep. A sweep may be divided into a pre-trig and a post-trig part:

SweepLength = PreTrig + PostTrig

The pre-trig part is a fraction of the sweep which is sampled prior to the time of trig. The PreTrig parameter specifies the length of the pre-trig part in seconds.

The number of sweeps acquired per series may be limited. If the Nmb Sweeps parameter is set to N>0 then Mr. Kick will automatically stop acquisition when any multiple of N sweeps have been acquired. If Nmb Sweeps is set to zero acquisition will continue until stopped by the user; if set to 1 only one sweep will be acquired each time acquisition is initiated. This parameter does not limit the number of sweeps that can be acquired to a file.

Sample Rate and Downsampling Factor

Mr. Kick can handle two sampling rates: Each analog channel may be sampled at either high or low sample rate. In practice all channels are sampled at the same high rate specified in the SampleRate parameter. Channels set to be sampled at low rate will then be down-sampled by an integer factor as specified in the DownSamp Factor parameter.
If SampleRate is set to 2000 and DownSamp Factor is set to 4 then channels sampled at high sample rate will be acquired at 2000 Hz and channels set for low sampling rate will be acquired at 2000/4=500 Hz.

Keep and Restore

These buttons will vanish from the program during the coming updates!..

The Keep button has the same effect as pressing the OK button, except that the dialog does not close. Pressing the Keep button will save the actual settings. The Restore button will restore the settings as they appeared when the dialog was initiated or the Keep button last pressed.

Note: If the Keep button has been pressed Cancel can not restore settings as they were when the dialog was initiated, but only as they were when Keep was pressed!
